Mumbai Port Sets Sail for the Future: Emphasizing Innovation and Sustainability
The Mumbai Port Authority has unveiled an ambitious strategy to enhance its operational framework by aiming to evolve into a multi-faceted maritime hub. Chairperson M. Angamuthu emphasized that rather than competing with the container-centric Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Mumbai port seeks to carve out a unique identity as a vital port-city gateway. This strategy encompasses a blend of cargo logistics, coastal connectivity, and world-class cruise facilities, aligning with India’s Maritime Vision 2047. In FY26, the port achieved a historic cargo throughput of 75.15 million tonnes, solidifying its position as India’s leading liquid bulk cargo port.
