Kerala University Celebrates Global Diversity with Heartfelt Farewell to Graduating International Students

Kerala University organised a farewell programme for 60 outgoing international students, comprising 20 undergraduate (UG) and 40 postgraduate (PG) students. Vice-Chancellor in-charge Mohanan Kunnummal presided over the meeting, with Pardeep Kumar, zonal director (South), Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), inaugurating the event. Additionally, Aminath Shifana, Consul General of Maldives, was the guest of honour, highlighting the university’s commitment to fostering international relations.

The university has experienced significant growth in international student admissions, receiving the highest number of applicants for its UG, PG, and PhD programmes through the ICCR portal over the past five years. Applications surged from 1,100 students in the academic year 2021-22 to an impressive 2,620 for 2025-26. On average, Kerala University admits around 110 foreign students annually, indicating a robust interest in its academic offerings.

Currently, there are 264 international students from 63 countries enrolled in various courses at Kerala University. The majority of these students hail from 28 African nations, with additional representation from countries including Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and several others across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. This diversity enriches the academic environment, fostering cultural exchange and enhancing global academic networks within the institution.
