RVNL Q4 Earnings: PAT Dips 43% YoY to Rs 212 Crore Despite 5% Revenue Growth.
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has released its financial results for the fourth quarter and full fiscal year 2025-26, showcasing a nuanced picture of performance. The company reported a standalone net profit of Rs 212 crore for the March-ended quarter, representing a decline of 43% compared to Rs 373 crore in the same period last year. Revenue, however, displayed a modest growth of 5%, reaching Rs 6,648 crore versus Rs 6,345 crore year-on-year. Additionally, the board has proposed a final dividend of Rs 0.71 per share, pending shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Despite positive revenue growth, RVNL faced significant challenges in profitability on both a year-on-year and sequential basis. The profit after tax (PAT) saw a notable decline of 20% from Rs 264 crore in the previous quarter (Q3FY26) and a 33% decrease year-on-year from Rs 800 crore in FY25. This was coupled with a substantial increase in operating expenses, which surged 49% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 6,535 crore, influenced by rising costs in materials, employee benefits, and finance expenses. Such inflationary pressures may warrant close scrutiny as they could cap future profitability if not managed appropriately.
Looking at the broader financial landscape, RVNL’s total assets increased to Rs 20,588 crore in FY26 from Rs 19,485 crore in FY25, indicating a strengthening of the company’s balance sheet. However, the negative cash flow of Rs 1,923 crore mirrors operational inefficiencies that need to be addressed. On a consolidated basis, the decline in PAT was even more pronounced, falling by 60% to Rs 182 crore compared to Rs 455 crore in Q4FY25, despite a 43% quarterly increase in revenue. These mixed results suggest a need for RVNL to strategize for better cost management and operational efficiency to regain investor confidence and ensure sustainable growth in the upcoming quarters.
